The manufacturer has issued the following safety notice:

We have identified that an electrical component on a limited number of Siemens branded tumble dryers manufactured in 2002 may overheat and in very rare cases cause a potential fire hazard.

We are committed to upholding the highest standards of safety, quality workmanship and reliability across all of our products. This is why we have taken steps and issued this voluntary free safety action. We deeply regret any inconvenience this safety action may cause you and thank you in advance for your cooperation and patience.

Only appliances similar to the one pictured (rectangular door, with or without display) are affected by this issue.
