AMDEA members ensure that their products are designed, tested, and manufactured to safety requirements laid down by European Directives, UK regulations and British and European Standards. Safety considerations include the whole of a product’s lifespan and any danger posed to small children or vulnerable adults.
Testing procedures are designed to determine whether or not an appliance meets specifications, and establish whether it could present a risk to users or their surroundings. Each product, including near identical ones, are examined individually and subjected to a series of tests to ensure that they are safe for sale.
The International Electrotechnical Committee (IEC) publishes standards for the safety of electrical and electronic products, which are continually reviewed and updated as technology develops. In the rare instance that a fault is identified revisions are made to prevent such a fault occurring again.
