Summary
Product: Caple Gas Hobs
Hazard: The hobs present a serious risk of poisoning, burns or gas explosion and/or fire.
Corrective action: Caple has initiated a modification programme for certain products in scope of the safety issue. OPSS has issued suspension notices on 6 July requiring manufacturers to stop the supply of models of gas hobs with certain elbow joints.

List of affected models
Hazard
The elbow on the connecting pipework of affected gas hobs can fail resulting in a significant gas leak, regardless of whether the hob is switched on and in use. Hazards resulting from a gas leak include burns, fire and explosion and poisoning from inhalation. The risk levels vary from low risk to serious risk, with the risk presented from fire and explosion being the worst case. The risk of fire and explosion in traditional built residences is high risk, and the risk of fire and explosion in a caravan or leisure homes is serious risk.
The products are not in conformity with the requirements of Regulation 2016/426.
Corrective action
A replacement gas supply pipe elbow has been identified and a modification programme is being implemented to replace the elbow pipe in all appliances on-site for models listed in Annex 1 of the attached PDF.
All owners of one of the affected models must:
1: Isolate the gas supply to the hob or caravan / holiday home immediately, by turning off the isolation valve to the hob, or to the holiday home or caravan.
